Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ayten Özsavaş Akçay graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture at Yıldız Technical University in 1994. She completed her master degree in 1997, and her PhD degree in 2006 in Architecture at Yıldız Technical University -İstanbul-Turkey.
She is a full-time lecturer at Near East University – Faculty of Architecture since 1998. She was Head of the Department of Architecture between 2014-2017 years. She was appointed as Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture in 2018. In 2023 she appointed as an Assoc.Prof.Dr. at the same university.
Her research fields are; architectural identity, new design approaches in historical context, extensions to historic buildings and adaptive reuse of historical buildings. She has had articles published in international refereed journals and papers presented at international academic conferences and symposiums
She is a member of the Chamber of Cyprus Turkish Architects since 1997.
She is married and has a daughter.
